History
The Christ Child Society Milwaukee Chapter was founded in 1948 as part of a National Christ Child Society which was founded in 1887 in Washington, D.C. by Mary Virginia Merrick. We have a long history of dedication to children which continues today. Read more about our history.
Marjory Wilmot Red Shoe Award
The Marjory Wilmot Red Shoe Award is awarded each year to one member of the Milwaukee Chapter whose light shines in many directions and whose dedication to the Society and to those we serve is exemplary. Marjory Wilmot was the founder of the Milwaukee Chapter in 1948.
Gavel Club
The Gavel Club, a group of past Christ Child Society Presidents, uses their experience and expertise to assist the President by accepting a special request or challenge each year. They undertake a project that will help the Board of Directors and the entire membership accomplish the goals of the Society.
Canonization of our Founder
Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington, D.C. recently stated, "Mary Virginia Merrick is a true example of how one person can overcome obstacles to live Christ's love for others and transform lives. She is a role model for living the faith and making a difference amid the challenges of life."
The Christ Child Society is pleased to announce that our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, has been declared a "Servant of God." This is the first step toward Canonization. We invite you to read more about our founder on the National Christ Child Society website. Go there now.
